Travis PhD

Dr. Travis C. Mickle, Ph.D., Founded KemPharm, Inc. in 2006, and serves as its President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Dr. Mickle served as the Chief Scientific Officer of KemPharm, Inc. Dr. Mickle served as Director of Drug Discovery and Chemical Development at New River Pharmaceuticals (NRP) from March 2001 to October 2005. During his tenure, Dr. Mickle was responsible for creating a strong preclinical and clinical pipeline of drugs in the areas of ADHD, pain and thyroid dysfunctions. He serves as a Director and a Member of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board at KemPharm, Inc. His contributions included the discovery and development of a therapy for the treatment of ADHD as principal inventor of Vyvanse®. He is also Principal Inventor of two clinical candidates (and one preclinical candidate). He is the author of 50 US and international patents and patent applications as well as several research papers. Before his departure, Dr. Mickle played an integral part in NRP's development into a publicly-traded company which has since been acquired for $2.6 billion by their marketing partner, Shire Pharmaceuticals, PLC. He holds a Ph.D. in Bio-Organic Chemistry from the University of Iowa.
