Dr. Thomas Casale joined the University of South Florida in Tampa in October of 2013, as Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and Chief of Clinical and Translational Research. Prior to that, Dr. Casale was Professor of Medicine and Medical Microbiology and Immunology and Chief of Allergy/Immunology at Creighton University in Omaha. Dr. Casale did an Allergy/Immunology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he was chief medical staff fellow.

Dr. Casale is a member of the American Thoracic Society and was on their Board of Directors and the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and both the American College and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is a Past President of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and is the current Executive Vice President. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the World Allergy Organization.

Dr. Casale's clinical and basic research interests are directed toward determination and treatment of the pathophysiologic mechanisms involved in asthma, COPD and allergic diseases. Dr. Casale has participated in over 200 multi-site clinical trials, especially for new immune response modifiers for airway diseases. He has been on advisory boards for the development of many clinical trials for novel treatments and the lead investigator on several. He has published over 325 scientific papers, reviews, and chapters on his research. He has organized and directed more than 50 CME programs for local and national meetings and he has been a member of the planning committee for five World Asthma Meetings. He has been on the editorial boards of multiple journals including the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the European Respiratory Journal.
