Sawsan As-sanie MD, MPH

Dr. As-Sanie’s clinical and research areas of interest are in the study of chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Much of her work has focused on clinical translational research aimed at understanding the neurobiological mechanisms of chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis, and she also studies healthcare utilization and outcomes as they relate to these conditions. One project she is collaborating on is examining persistent opioid use, repeat surgery, and healthcare utilization in women undergoing surgical sterilization procedures and hysterectomy in a large claims database. Dr. As-Sanie is also interested in developing personalized, mechanism-based treatment strategies for women with complex gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis, pelvic pain, uterine fibroids and abnormal uterine bleeding.
