Sarah J. Kilpatrick MD, PhD

Sarah Kilpatrick, MD, Ph.D., always dreamed of pursuing a career in medicine. As a student at Tulane University School of Medicine, she made an important discovery: “I fell in love with obstetrics and gynecology.” Dr. Kilpatrick was well suited to the specialty and quickly earned a reputation as one of the country’s foremost experts in maternal-fetal medicine and women’s health. Today, as chair of Cedars-Sinai’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she continues to burnish that reputation through her groundbreaking research, passion for teaching, and commitment to exceptional clinical care.

Dr. Kilpatrick directs a department dedicated to providing the best women’s healthcare in California. It’s a multi-faceted role that enables her to implement a vision for the department’s future while also seeing high-risk obstetrics patients and offering weekly lectures to fellows and residents. Dr. Kilpatrick also leads pioneering scientific investigations into topics ranging from the maternal near-miss, to very preterm birth management, to the links between preterm delivery and cardiovascular disease.
