Dr. Silvestri maintains a busy academic ambulatory practice and sees referral patients with the entire spectrum of pulmonary problems. He also serves as an attending on the pulmonary consult service and on the medicine service. Dr. Silvestri is a member of the Beth Israel Deaconess Ethics Support Service.
Dr. Silvestri has defined himself as an educator throughout his career. He is actively involved in teaching fellows and residents during the pulmonary elective at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also directs the student pulmonary elective rotations at BIDMC and for several years has directed a Harvard wide student pulmonary elective. In addition, for the past 15 years he has been the site director of the Harvard Medical Patient- Doctor II Course, first at the Deaconess Hospital and now at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has been honored three times with a Best Clinical Teacher Award by the Department of Medicine.
