Dr. Philip A. Baer is a graduate of McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, where he was the class gold medallist. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Montreal General Hospital, followed by a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Toronto, supported by The Arthritis Society of Canada. Dr. Baer has practiced as a clinical rheumatologist in eastern Toronto for over 30 years. He is an active participant in clinical registries and Continuing Medical Education.
Dr. Baer is Medical Director of ivari, Texas Life, and Canadian Premier Life; Past-Chair and current Secretary of the Section of Rheumatology of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), OMA District 11 Centenary Branch Society Delegate; President of the Ontario Rheumatology Association (ORA); Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA); and a member of the Board of Directors of the Journal of Rheumatology. In 2011, Dr. Baer was recognized as the GTA Community Rheumatologist of the Year by the Division of Rheumatology, University of Toronto. In 2012, Dr. Baer received the OMA Section Service Award and was recognized as the Rheumatologist of the Year by the ORA. In 2016, Dr. Baer received the CRA Practice Reflection Silver Award.
