Jonathan L. Eliason, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Section of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery. Dr. Eliason received his undergraduate degree from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota and his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He then relocated to Nashville, TN, where he completed his General Surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He became Chief Resident in the 2001-2002 academic year and proceeded into the two-year Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Eliason served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and as a staff surgeon for the San Antonio Military Vascular Surgery Service at Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center. He is currently investigating the potential immune mechanisms by which abdominal aortic aneurysms are initiated. Dr. Eliason is the author or co-author of over 40 journal articles and chapters in surgical textbooks. He has also regularly contributes to local, regional, and national meetings for vascular surgery.
