Gbenga Ogedegbe, MD, is a Professor of Population Health and Medicine in the Department of Population Health at NYU School of Medicine, Director of the Division of Health and Behavior, Director of the Center for Healthful Behavior Change, Co-Director of the Research Core of Cornell’s NIH-funded Center of Excellence in Health Disparities, and Director of the Bellevue Hospital Primary Care Hypertension Specialty Clinic. He is a member of the Eighth Joint National Committee on the Detection, Evaluation, Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension (JNC-8), Fellow of the American Heart Association on High Blood Pressure Council, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the American Society of Hypertension.
Dr Ogedegbe is a clinical epidemiologist, hypertension specialist, and behavioural scientist with expertise in development, implementation and translation of evidence-based behavioural interventions targeted at cardiovascular risk reduction in minority populations into primary care practices and community-based settings. To this end, Dr Ogedegbe is the Principal Investigator of three NHLBI-funded R01 grants (R01HL087301, R01HL092860, R01HL078566) and a Project Leader on two NCMHD-funded Health Disparities Centers. In addition, he is co-investigator on several NIH-funded trials in diabetes management and sleep disorders.
