Alexandra Papadopoulou has specialized in Pediatric Gastroenterology in Great Britain, at the Institute of Child Health, University of Birmingham, from 1991 to 1994. She has a degree of Doctor of medicine from the University of Birmingham, Great Britain, and is an Honorary Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical Pediatric Academy of St Petersburg. She has over 100 publications in medical journals, over 100 presentations in medical congresses, and over 100 invited lectures. Five research studies have received honors. She is a member of 7 international and Greek scientific societies and a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), for which she served as President during the years 2005 - to 2008. She is a member of ESPGHAN (elected in 1998), behalf of which organized the following Summer Schools and Postgraduate Courses: the ESPGHAN Nutrition Summer School in 2005, which was attended by participants from 26 countries; the ESPGHAN Gastroenterology Summer School in 2010, which was attended by participants from 24 countries; the first ESPGHAN Postgraduate Course on Practical techniques in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2016, which was attended by participants from 25 countries.
In 2017, she organized the ESPGHAN Endoscopy hands-on Course in Athens, in 2018, the ESPGHAN Gastroenterology Summer School in Athens, and in 2019, the ESPGHAN Endoscopy hands-on Course in Athens that was attended by participants from 18 countries. In 2006 she co-hosted the 1st Joint Turkish-Greek Postgraduate Course on Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition in Cappadocia. In 2011 she was elected member of the ESPGHAN Committee on Gastroenterology for the years 2011-2014 and in 2014 was re-elected for another 3-year term. From 2011 to 2017 she was the Education Secretary of the Committee on Gastroenterology and the representative for the affairs of the National Societies. From 2013 to 2016 she was appointed member of the ESPGHAN Public Affairs Committee. In 2015 she was appointed the ESPGHAN representative at the National Societies Group Steering Committee for the years 2015-2017. In 2016 she was Chair of the LOC of the ESPGHAN 49th annual meeting in Athens. From 2015-to 2016 she served on the ESPGHAN Council. Currently, she is the President of HELSPGHAN for the years 2019-2021 and the Chair of the ESPGHAN Working Group on Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases for the years 2019-2021. In addition, she served as a member of the National Nutrition Committee of the Hellenic Ministry of Health, a member of the Working Group on the specialization in Pediatrics of the Central Board of Health of the Hellenic Ministry of Health, member of the Committee on Pediatric Subspecialties of the Hellenic Ministry of Health and member of the Institute of Scientific Research of the Panhellenic Medical Association.
