Abdul obtained his primary medical qualification at the University of Cape Town graduating with First Class Honors. He spent two years working in South Africa before completing his initial training in Anaesthetics at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. Subsequent to this he trained in Anaesthesia in Manchester obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2004. During his Advanced Pain Medicine Training Abdul successfully sat the Diploma in Pain Medicine in 2007. In 2008 he obtained entry to the Faculty of Pain Medicine as a Fellow. Abdul leads the Spinal Cord Stimulator Service and is also responsible for medical education within the Pain Centre. He is also a Foundation Programme Tutor and an Honorary Lecturer at the Universities of Manchester and Salford.
