OVERVIEW

Revisiting Vasomotor Symptoms Course is organized by American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG).

Release Date: November 1, 2021
Review/Expiration Date: November 1, 2022

Description:
Almost two decades after WHI, many physicians who provide women’s healthcare still have doubts related to the management of the most common menopausal symptoms. These gaps lead to suboptimal patient care, where vasomotor symptoms (VMS) are not discussed, or, worse, avoided by both patients and clinicians. Existing guidelines seem complex and a newer class of VMS treatment is emerging, sure to create additional questions.
This activity provides current information about how to improve VMS outcomes through shared decision-making and open communication with patients, recent findings on VMS' impact, and established and emerging therapeutics.

Learning Objectives:
Those participating in this activity will receive information that should allow them to...
• Identify psychological, physiological and quality of life impacts vasomotor symptoms have on a woman’s life
• Describe different strategies to improve screening, diagnosis, and management of VMS
• Identify current treatment guidelines and recommendations for VMS management
• Review current hormonal and non-hormonal therapies for VMS
• Discuss new directions in the treatment of VMS
