Program Overview:
With acute pediatric patients in the intensive care unit, movement may decrease or even cease due to staff anxiety of when and how to move these delicate patients. This bite sized learning session describes the development of an early mobility protocol at one facility.
The implementation of early mobility has been shown to decrease the number of days with sedation and ventilation, length of stay, and the rate of pressure injury formation. This early mobility protocol allowed all staff to know when and how to move patients in the pediatric intensive care unit, putting practical interventions in place to keep the patient moving forward.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to discuss the concept of early mobility and building a protocol in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
