Goal:
After completing this activity, the pharmacist will be able to expand their role in maternal health care by counseling on appropriate nutrient supplementation; discussing considerations for safe medication use; and listing the recommended immunizations and infectious disease screenings required before and during pregnancy.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • List the nutrient supplements required and foods/supplements that should be avoided during pregnancy
  • Discuss consideration for safe medication use during pregnancy
  • List the immunizations and infectious disease screening recommendations before and during pregnancy
  • Identify ways a pharmacist can implement maternal health services in their practice
