Pain Management in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is organized by American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).
Release Date: May 23, 2024
Expiration Date: May 23, 2027
Description:
OMSs are highly specialized in oral pain management by virtue of their training and experience. Much like the rest of the healthcare community, opioid-free or limited opioid prescription pain management has been trending upward in the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty. However, this trend creates a dilemma when non-opioid pain management is inadequate for pain management. This 60-minute webinar will explore the risks and benefits of opioid and non-opioid pain management as well as alternatives in the pain management armamentarium to consider.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
• Identify the risk of use of opioid analgesics even when appropriate.
• Determine available non-opioid alternatives.
• Discuss contraindication to opioid and non-opioid analgesics.
