Description:
The COVID-19 pandemic is of continued interest for both health care providers and the public, with more than 2.5 million cases and 100,000 deaths in the United States alone as of the end of June 2020. Given the constant updates and research in this space, it is imperative that pharmacists remain conscious of current recommendations and the multitude of investigative targets, as the treatment paradigm is continuously evolving. While there are currently no FDA-approved medications for the treatment of COVID-19, pharmacists must be familiar with the role of various treatment options as well as the efficacy and safety data behind any recommendations. This webinar will provide pharmacists with a quick introduction to COVID-19, with an emphasis on recent data that are emerging on therapeutic options for the management of patients with COVID-19, as well as a brief discussion of vaccine development.

Educational Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Examine the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic and potential therapies under accelerated development including antivirals and immunomodulators
• Explore emerging efficacy and safety data on therapies under investigation for COVID-19, as well as ongoing research in vaccine development
