Description:
Laboratory professionals may serve as both managers and leaders. Managerial and leadership skills can be learned and developed. In this course, you will explore the roles and responsibilities of managers and leaders, and you will determine how these aspects align with your current role and future development. This course consists of three modules. The first module focuses on defining the characteristics and styles of a leader. The second module focuses on comparing leadership and management roles and responsibilities. The third module focuses on leadership development resources and tools.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the program, the participant will be able to:
• Distinguish between managerial and leadership roles and responsibilities.
• Analyze managerial and leadership skills.
• Determine managerial and leadership areas for personal development.

Continuing Education:
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program and CPH-recertification. P.A.C.E.® is accepted by all licensure states except Florida. This activity will provide 1.0 contact hour(s) for participants who successfully complete this training until October 31, 2025. After this date, you can no longer obtain P.A.C.E.® for this learning activity.
