Demographic Adjustment for Ethnoracial Identity in Neuropsychological Test Interpretation is organized by California Psychological Association (CPA).
Start Date: 3/27/2024
End Date:12/1/2024
Course Description:
Testing guidelines from the American Psychological Association require that psychologists who use assessment measures be knowledgeable of the measurement science for those tests. One foundational measurement science principle in neuropsychological test use is the reference-group model of normative standard setting as the basis for test interpretation. Despite the critical nature of this psychometric process, few formalized professional standards and relatively little research has been directed to the management of demographic factors in this process. As a result, decisions regarding demographic adjustments have largely been left to the discretion of individual psychologists. Ethnoracial identity as a demographic adjustment factor has come under recent scrutiny in neuropsychological evaluations. This webinar will interrogate the science and practice of ethnoracial demographic adjustment in neuropsychological evaluations with a review of historic contexts and an informed pathway toward equitable futures.
After attending this Online Course, attendees will be able to:
• Describe at least two theoretical foundations of applying demographic adjustments to neuropsychological test interpretations.
• Demonstrate cultural literacy for the primary terms and concepts involved in deciding whether to apply ethnoracial adjustments.
• Describe at least two of the benefits and limitations of utilizing ethnoracial demographic adjustments in neuropsychological evaluations.
