OVERVIEW

CIFOR Guidelines Learning Modules is organized by Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL).

Expiration date: Oct 23, 2025.

Description:
The Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response (CIFOR) is a collaborative group of food safety experts. The CIFOR Learning Modules provide summaries of the CIFOR Guidelines, which are a comprehensive resource for local, state, and federal agencies involved in foodborne disease investigation and control. The modules cover topics such as legal preparedness, planning and preparation, surveillance and outbreak detection, control measures, and multi-jurisdictional outbreaks. After completing these modules, the goal is for learners to seek additional information in the 3rd edition CIFOR Guidelines and partner with other professionals to apply these key points in practice. The course includes 8 modules, each with a recommended completion time of 20 minutes. The system will keep track of where you left off if you need to take a pause and come back later. A quiz will be presented at the end of each chapter. Once the quiz has been submitted, you will have the opportunity to view the correct answers.

Learning Objectives:
• Explain rapid and continuing changes in aspects of food safety.
• Identify the roles of key organizations in foodborne disease outbreaks.
• Describe the main components of the foodborne disease surveillance and outbreak investigation framework.
• Recognize key performance metrics for foodborne illness programs.
