Course Description:
Acute low back pain is a common reason for a patient to consult their primary care provider. Most back symptoms are normally self-limited. History and physical examination typically provide clues to the rare, but potentially serious problems of low back pain. The differential analysis will be examined and relevant use of diagnostic testing, including x-rays, will be considered. Attendees will examine prevailing recommendations and treatment algorithms, and determine when it is suitable to consider specialty referral.
