Description:
Fluoroquinolones are widely used in clinical practice. These antimicrobials come with multiple safety concerns. This course will review scenarios in which fluoroquinolones may be considered the drug of choice and when alternative medications should be considered the primary intervention.

Learning Objectives:

• Explain the background of the use of fluoroquinolones in clinical practices and outline safety concerns about these antimicrobials.
• Use your Food and Drug Administration guidelines to properly apply fluoroquinolones to clinical practice.
• Counsel patients about the possible negative effects that fluoroquinolones could unintentionally trigger.
• Document the reasons for the use of fluoroquinolones on the patient record when all other options have been exhausted.
