A Case-Based Approach to Evaluating and Treating GI Bleeding is organized by Southern Medical Association (SMA) and will be held from Jan 04, 2019 - Jan 04, 2020.

Target Audience:
This activity is designed for healthcare professionals including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and allied healthcare professionals of all specialties.

Credits Available:
Southern Medical Association designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

All healthcare professionals who are not MDs or DOs will receive a certificate of participation.

Goals and Objectives:
The evaluation of GI bleeding, especially in complex, elderly individuals, requires a team approach. Evaluation and treatment algorithms are rapidly changing. Through very interactive and practical case presentations, the goal is to update the primary care provider to assist with selection of the best possible alternatives. At the conclusion of the session, learners should be better prepared to:

• Examine the risk factors that lead to GI bleeding;
• Describe the limitations of colonoscopy;
• Utilize “Alarm Symptoms” when evaluating patients.
