Course Description:
This course provides counselors a systematic overview of the research evidence on psychosocial and/or pharmacologic treatment for children and adolescents with disruptive behavior disorders. Qualitative and quantitative analyses generally suggest that psychosocial interventions for children with disruptive behavior disorders that include a parent component, either alone or in combination with other components, are likely to be more effective at reducing disruptive child behaviors than interventions that include only a child component or control conditions.

Learning Objectives:
• Analyze the evidence in the research literature addressing the effectiveness of psychosocial and pharmacologic treatment approaches for disruptive behavior
• Analyze the applicability and limitations of the research findings for disruptive behavior
