APhA's Update to Immunization Training for Technicians provided by American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is organized by American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

Course Description:
This educational experience is designed to reinforce the pharmacy technician's knowledge, skills, and confidence in providing vaccinations to improve patient care. It provides comprehensive instruction, updates on the best practices in immunization administration, regulatory authorizations for administration, and strategies to improve immunization rates. As the practice of pharmacy evolves, the advancement of pharmacy technician roles follow suit.

Course Plan

  • This home study has an approximate 2-hour interactive activity - If you cannot devote 2 hours in one sitting, then plan on closing out before you get up to do anything so that it bookmarks where you stopped.
  • After the activity, there is a 10-question knowledge check - don't rush through the assessment - read each question and each answer and then select before submitting.
  • Once all is completed you will have access to print your certificate straight from the course.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate the role of the pharmacy technician and pharmacist in the prescribing, preparation, administration, and monitoring of immunizations
  • Outline best practices in the preparation and administration of immunizations
  • Identify the regulatory scope of practice as a pharmacy technician in your state(s) of licensure
  • Describe practice models to integrate technicians to optimize immunizations

Obtaining Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) Credit
The American Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (CPE).

To obtain credit for this learning activity, you must successfully complete the activity and have a current APhA account. Your transcript of CPE will be on your CPE Monitor account within 24-hours of successful activity completion. If you are licensed in Florida, your CPE will be filed with CE Broker.
