Early Identification of Psychosis is organized by At Health, LLC.
Course Overview:
How many of us have been in a clinical interview and wondered, “Could this be a thought disorder?” Sometimes it’s unclear which symptoms are worth concern and which ones are more typical. Dr. Sharp's guest, Dr. Michelle Friedman-Yakoobian, has been conducting research and practice with psychotic disorders and prodromal states for nearly her entire academic career. In this interview Dr. Sharp and Dr. Friedman-Yakoobian discuss:
• When should we really start assessing for psychosis?
• How to separate OCD from delusions or hallucinations?
• The CEDAR Clinic’s standard battery for assessing psychotic symptoms
• Treatment recommendations for high-risk individuals
Learning Objectives:
Based on the content of this course, I can:
• Discuss why the Structured Interview for Psychosis-Risk Syndromes is the gold standard for assessing for psychosis
• Summarize why early identification of psychotic symptoms is important in the patient's resilience
• List the comorbidities with and the research supported treatments for psychotic disorders
