OVERVIEW

Update on TB/HIV Coinfection: Across the Spectrum From Latent Infection Through Drug-Susceptible and Drug-Resistant Disease is organized by International Antiviral Society-USA (IAS-USA) and will be held on Nov 16, 2021.

Who Should Attend :
This webinar is designed for clinical decision makers who are actively involved in HIV care and research, including physicians, physician assistants, nursing professionals, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.

Assessment of Needs :
This webinar will review the landscape of tuberculosis (TB) and HIV coinfection across the disease spectrum, from latent infection to drug-susceptible and drug-resistant disease. Recent advances include TB preventive therapy for 1 month, which is safe and effective, and a 4-month regimen, after 40 years of a 6-month treatment for drug-susceptible disease, has proved successful. Equally important, more effective and tolerable shorter course regimens for highly drug-resistant TB have been identified.

Learning Objectives
On completion of this webinar, learners will be able to:
• Describe the current epidemiology of tuberculosis with an emphasis on HIV coinfection
• Identify which patients should be offered TB preventive therapy
• Described recent advances in shorter regimens for TB prevention
• Identify the optimal regimen for treatment of drug-susceptible TB in patients with HIV infection
• Described recent advances in treatment of patients with drug-resistant TB
