The Semi-Annual Heart and Vascular Symposium: A Practical Update for the Primary Care Provider is a clinically focused program designed for primary care health providers interested in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular problems encountered in primary care. This would include family physicians, general practitioners, internists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other health care professionals involved in primary care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this activity, the participant should be able to:
• provide evidence-based care to patients with common outpatient cardiovascular complaints.
• select appropriate testing for cardiovascular conditions that are often seen in the primary care office.
• recognize and manage cardiovascular issues that would prompt referral to a cardiologist, surgeon, or vascular specialist.
• describe the current guidelines for commonly encountered cardiovascular conditions.
• order the optimal imaging studies when needed to evaluate for a cardiovascular issue.
