This training is part of the Partners for Kids-Behavioral Health Education Series! Registration is intended for Partners for Kids providers. A Zoom link and further instructions will be sent closer to the actual training date.
This series provides participants with the opportunity to learn from internal experts in the behavioral health field. Relevant behavioral health topics and evidence-based practice tools are presented in a monthly lecture format.
Session description: This presentation specifically aims to increase knowledge about the unique experiences and needs of refugees to improve the capacity of mainstream professionals to be culturally considerate and responsive when providing services and following practices specific to the systems in which they work within. This presentation also aims to bring awareness to factors present when conceptualizing safety/risk factors, and consider a culturally responsive approach when mandated reporting is warranted. Considerations for building and maintaining rapport, engaging advocacy efforts, and empowering families will also be addressed. Professionals will be provided information through visual means and verbal discussion, and be given an opportunity to use conceptualization and application through experiential practice during the training.
