Trimester 3: Light Related Skin Disease & Pigmentation Disorders Course is organized by The Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) and will be held from Aug 21 - Nov 05, 2023.

Description:
These courses are designed to provide Doctors and related health professionals with knowledge and skills in a range of Dermatology and skin health areas to develop their expertise and confidence in dealing with patients who present with dermatological conditions. It aims to assist you in the day-to-day management of these patients and in making the decision as to when to refer a patient to a Dermatologists.

Completion of this course does not provide you with qualifications in dermatology or guarantee you access into the ACD Specialist Training Program. In order to practice as a Specialist Dermatologist you must complete the ACD Specialist Training Program.

Course Learning Outcomes:
At the successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
• Identify effects of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) on the skin
• Determine the function and use of lasers and ionising radiation in treating common skin disorders
• Identify and describe cutaneous changes that may be associated with Light Related Skin Disease and Pigmentation Disorders
• Critically analyse clinical cutaneous observations and/or investigations to diagnose Light Related Skin Disease and Pigmentation Disorders
• Plan and develop treatment and management regimens appropriate to Light Related Skin Disease and Pigmentation Disorders
• Assess when to refer a patient on to a specialist dermatologist

Outline & Components:
This online course will train you to properly diagnose the appropriate skin treatment, provide reassurance, or initiate the appropriate referral when presented with light related skin disease and pigmentation disorders.

This course consists of three online topics:
• The physics of light
• Interactions with the skin
• The role of lasers and ionising radiation in dermatological practice

It will also deal in detail with some of the more common light related skin conditions encountered in general practice.
