OVERVIEW

4th Annual MS and CNS Neuroimmunology Symposium: Advances and Updates is organized by Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine and will be held on Sep 18, 2021.

Who should attend:
Neurologists, neuroimmunologists, rheumatologists, ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons, physicians, nurse practitioners, rehabilitation including physical and occupational therapists, researchers, and other medical professionals in the field of neuroimmunological disorders are invited to attend.

Description:
This symposium will provide health care professionals the information needed to identify, refer, treat and/or implement practice changes to improve the care of patients with neuroimmunological disorders. Specific disorders discussed this year include multiple sclerosis (MS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), autoimmune epilepsy (AE), longitudinal extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) and technological advances in rehabilitation.

This accredited symposium will explore diagnosis, management, and treatment challenges in MS and CNS neuroimmunology disorders. Advances and updates in neuroimmunology research will be explored and discussed, as well as challenging cases for practical application in a clinical setting.

Learning Objectives:
After the symposium attendees will be able to:
• Describe evidence based ALS management strategies and the impact of disease modifying therapies for ALS.
• Discuss advancements in MS disease management and review approach to selecting appropriate treatment options.
• Describe advances in technology based rehabilitation options for MS and select options based by case.
• Discuss criteria for earlier diagnosis of autoimmune epilepsy and identify management options to improve outcomes.
• Improve understanding of spinal cord MRI findings of LETM and to better differentiate neuromyelitis optica (NMO), Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and other causes of LETM.
• Discuss newer ways to promote remyelination strategies for MS.
