Course Description:
Perhaps the first thing that comes to a patient’s mind when a breast abnormality is found is “What next?” From problem-solving mammography to diagnostic procedures involving the newest breast imaging technology, this course reviews diagnostic breast imaging procedures performed with stereotaxis, digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), ultrasound (US), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These procedures include wire localization, core needle, and vacuum-assisted biopsy, ductography, fine needle aspiration cytology, clip placement, elastography, and specimen radiography. This course reviews basic breast imaging principles, indications and contraindications, equipment, and considerations for each procedure and modality. Current screening recommendations and implications, a review of screening and additional mammographic views, and basic patient care, infection control, and safety protocols are included.
This course is based on a printed and bound reference created by Rachel Gruber, B.S. This course has a corresponding test containing 98 multiple choice and true/false questions.
