OVERVIEW

AANA August 2022 Journal Course: Evidence-based Prevention Strategies for the Management of Spinal Anesthesia-Induced Hypotension in Healthy Parturients Undergoing Elective Cesarean Delivery is organized by American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA).

Course Launch Date: 8/9/22
Course Expires: 8/8/25

Description:
The incidence of anesthesia-induced hypotension in healthy parturients undergoing elective cesarean delivery remains high despite the availability of evidence-based prevention measures.  There are wide variations in clinical practice for preventing spinal anesthesia-induced hypotension in healthy
parturients undergoing elective cesarean delivery, many of which are based on custom rather than current best evidence.  Anesthesia providers will be able to compare and contrast evidence-based strategies for preventing spinal anesthesia-induced hypotension in parturients undergoing elective cesarean delivery.

Learning Outcomes:
• Describe the advantages and disadvantages of spinal anesthesia in healthy parturients undergoing elective cesarean delivery.
• Describe the basic physiology of spinal anesthesiainduced hypotension.
• Identify unique risk factors for spinal anesthesiainduced hypotension in parturients undergoing elective cesarean delivery.
• Describe the incidence and impact of spinal anesthesiainduced hypotension in parturients.
• Analyze the current evidencebased interventions for the prevention of spinal anesthesiainduced hypotension in parturients undergoing elective cesarean delivery.
