2025 New Horizons in Nephrology: Updates in Kidney Transplantation is organized by Penn Medicine - Continuing Medical and Interprofessional Education and will be held on Apr 25, 2025 at Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America.

Description:
This program will address the latest updates in transplant allocation and wait listing and how these impact kidney transplant candidates. It will also review updates in the management of the kidney transplant recipients and discuss advances in biomarker development. A combination of case presentations and lectures will be used to provide an academically sound and clinically relevant review.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss new and ongoing federal initiatives aimed at increasing transplant access, new UNOS policies and how these affect transplant candidates
  • Identify strategies to expand to kidney transplantation.
  • Discuss the increasing complexity of kidney candidates, strategies to get them transplanted and importance of partnership with general nephrologists.
  • Discuss select topics in the long-term care of a kidney transplant recipient in a shared-care model
