Description:
The SPA 36th Annual Conference will focus on issues of interest to providers of anesthesia, sedation, and pain management services for infants and children. The overall goals for attendees of the program are to reinforce and enhance their existing fund of knowledge, and to introduce them to new and state-of-the-art techniques and information that affect their practice and improve the perioperative/critical care of pediatric patients.

Scope and Types of Activities:

This program brings together specialists from basic and clinical science disciplines in pediatric medicine, surgery, and anesthesia. Anatomy, pathophysiology, and anaestheticsthetic pharmacology are the main topics. Sedation, pain management, child safety, and advocacy are also important. We will also be discussing career management and practice issues. There are many presentation formats, including lectures, panel discussions, and problem-based learning discussions.

Participation and feedback from attendees are encouraged in all aspects. This will be made possible by real-time audience polling and sessions where audience members directly participate in case discussions. The program content is a result of extensive audience polling and member input at previous meetings.
