The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) Cadaveric Major Open Abdominal Surgery Course is organized by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and will be held on Feb 13, 2025 at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Birmingham, England, United Kingdom.

Description:
This course will provide comprehensive and condensed learning experience to compensate for the progressive reduction in the time spent by trainees in theatre as well as the decrease in the numbers of open procedures in general surgery. Please note you do not have to attend Intermediate Open Abdominal Surgery to attend this course.

Course Aims & Objectives:
The course aims to address the gap in the market for courses covering intermediate and major open abdominal procedures. In the past, there was no need for this type of course as trainees acquired the necessary skills through 'apprenticeships' and long hours of training. This course will aid the current training model.

Learning Outcomes:
After having attended this course participants will have the knowledge and skills required to perform the following surgical procedures under supervision:

• Segmental colectomy
• Perforated peptic ulcer and bleeding peptic ulcer
• Splenectomy
