OVERVIEW

Pediatric Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Infant Hip and Other Applications 2025 is organized by Nemours children's Health system and will be held from Mar 06 - 07, 2025 at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Delaware, United States of America.

Description:
Infant hip ultrasound has been established as a highly sensitive and specific imaging modality when accurately performed by properly trained examiners. This course will teach the diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologist, and orthopedic surgeon the essential elements of the hip examination technique and the role of hip sonography in the diagnosis and management of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).

This course includes approximately five hours of clinical scanning. Under the supervision of experienced faculty, participants will have the opportunity for hands-on experience performing infant hip and spine studies in our orthopedic clinic. Other musculoskeletal applications, including the infant spine, will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate adequate skills in performing a complete dynamic hip ultrasound and neonatal spine ultrasound.
  • Distinguish normal hips from abnormal hips on dynamic hip ultrasound.
  • Describe both clinical and imaging guidelines for hip dysplasia screening.
  • Implement required elements for performing and reporting of dynamic hip ultrasound.
