Brain injuries are known to produce structural damage locally but can also disrupt activity in wider circuits. Neuroimaging studies have identified functional changes in extensive brain networks whose location and extent indicate the likelihood of behavioural deficits and potential recovery. The Challenge Workshop will be an in-depth retreat devoted to understanding emerging evidence about the neuronal dynamics underlying these functional alterations, their impact on behaviour, and their relevance for rehabilitation and treatment.
