Anaesthetists as Educators: teaching and training in the workplace builds on the knowledge and skills gained in the Anaesthetists as Educators: An Introduction course. It is intended for senior trainees, SAS doctors and consultants, who already have experience of teaching and supervising trainees in the clinical environment. To be eligible to attend, participants must have attended Anaesthetists as Educators: An Introduction course in the last two years or have at least two years’ experience of teaching and training others in the workplace.
The course looks at the education and assessment of trainee anaesthetists and raises awareness of some of the key concepts associated with education.

This highly interactive workshop relies on the participant bringing their real-life experiences of teaching in the workplace, to the course in order to gain the most benefit.
The RCoA Anaesthetists as Educators Programme can support trainers in meeting the requirements for GMC Recognition and Approval of Trainers. The course content is mapped to the GMC’s seven domains and participation in this course will provide supporting evidence towards the GMC approval process for named educational supervisors and named clinical supervisors.
