Description:
This session will highlight critical updates in liver transplantation including referral protocols, management of complications of cirrhosis in liver transplant patients, patient selection criteria in the setting of alcohol-associated liver disease, living donor liver transplantation, liver transplant for liver cancer and post-transplant immunosuppression.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss appropriate clinical triggers for referral for liver transplant evaluation.
  • Review clinical management strategies for complications of cirrhosis in liver transplant patients.
  • Identify objective criteria used in pre-transplant setting to assist in selecting appropriate patients with alcohol-associated liver disease
  • Discuss living donor liver transplantation selection criteria and optimal referral timing.
  • Review indications for liver transplant for hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma.
  • Identify critical post-transplant immunosuppression regimens
