Embark on a memorable journey through the Texas Hill Country where you’ll discover the charm and beauty of the Lone Star State. While exploring several state parks, you’ll have the opportunity to explore natural caves, uncover hidden waterfalls, ascend an enormous granite dome, admire fields painted with wildflowers, take a dip in pristine rivers, and sleep under the stars.
Our knowledgeable trip leader will guide you through the local terrain, providing valuable wilderness medical education tailored to the surroundings. With a limited group of just 12 participants, enjoy a more intimate experience, fostering camaraderie and small-group learning. Come and enjoy the enchanting Texas Hill Country in a relaxed and educational setting. This trip offers the perfect blend of nature, adventure, and learning!
Objectives:
This course is designed to educate participants in the pathophysiology, recognition and treatment of a variety of medical problems commonly encountered in wilderness environments and settings remote from hospital or definitive care.
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Analyze and manage musculoskeletal injury in a wilderness environment.
• Develop a plan to prevent and manage health issues that can occur in a wilderness environment, including heat illness and snake bites.
• Minimize morbidity and mortality that occur from behavioral-related hazards in the wilderness.
• Demonstrate practical skills such as the tying of knots that can assist with the evacuation of an injured or ill person from the wilderness.
