OVERVIEW

6th Symposium on Coronary Artery Anomalies (CAA) 2024 is organized by Texas Children's Hospital and will be held from Dec 05 - 06, 2024 at Houston, Texas, United States of America.

Description:
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) in the young is a rare but devastating event that affects families and communities. Anomalous aortic origin of coronary artery (AAOCA) is the second leading cause of SCD in young athletes. The absolute risk is unknown, thus controversy exists regarding patient evaluation and management, also true for patients with myocardial bridges (MB). Moreover, exercise activity is controversial upon such diagnoses. Modes of imaging and functional myocardial assessment remain controversial.

This symposium is designed to provide a dedicated forum to discuss the diagnosis and management of patients with coronary artery anomalies (CAA). Topics will include anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA) and myocardial bridges.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Increase awareness of the challenges in the diagnosis and management of patients with anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA), the second leading cause of sudden cardiac death in the US.
  • Identify AAOCA and myocardial bridges (MB) by utilizing the appropriate advanced imaging technique.
  • Identify risk factors of AAOCA that might indicate surgical intervention.
  • Identify and implement strategies for exercise/sports activity recommendation in patients with AAOCA.
  • Identify coronary lesions at risk for coronary ischemia and implement therapeutic strategies.
