The emphasis – clinical studies published exclusively in 2024 that have been carefully selected for their potential to impact your practice and that will be presented simultaneously by a pair of enthusiastic faculty.

Each presentation will be delivered by a pair of front-line emergency physician educators who stay current with the latest research as they train the next generation of emergency clinicians.

In addition to reviewing about 250 clinical studies, there will be some focused traditional 30-minute presentations and several engaging faculty panels.

Learning Objectives:

Topics:
The new Year in Review format for the Emergency Medicine & Acute Care course will present over 200 clinical studies aimed at affirming and updating your practice in all the major fields of emergency medicine. Presentations will be made by two faculty to allow for varying points-of-view. Although presentations will be 30 minutes in length, multiple presentations will cover topics based on the amount of literature to be presented (e.g., Cardiology - 3 presentations / Orthopedics - 1 presentation).

Traditional 30-Minute EM & Acute Care Presentations

  • 10 Essential Concepts When Assessing a Study
    Given that the course focuses on the 2024 literature of emergency medicine, to meaningfully assess the applicability of the conclusions of the study to day-to-day practice, fundamental study assessment skills are essential.
  • Pain Management Update
    The skillful management of pain is a talent that all EM clinicians are expected to master. This session will focus on the new and controversial aspect of pain control based on some of the 2024 literature.
  • Medicolegal Briefs
    From the podcast Risk Management Monthly / EM we’ll present the 2024 distillate of important cases, expert interviews, new regulations, and medicolegal news that will impact your practice and the policies and procedures of your department.
  • Visual Diagnosis Cases
    This annual two-part feature reviews a series of clinical cases in which the key to the diagnosis is a visual clue. This give-and-take session narrows down the diagnoses and then the faculty member gives a brief overview of the entity.
