OVERVIEW

Vaccination Medicine Update Magdeburg 2023 is organized by K.I.T. Group GmbH Dresden and will be held on Nov 04, 2023 at Ratswaage Hotel Magdeburg, Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

Description:
Contrary to what the Federal Minister of Health announced on April 11, 2023, Germany has survived the corona pandemic, but not "successfully and with a good balance sheet". The COVID vaccines, which were introduced very quickly - for the first time in a pandemic infection process - were certainly a game changer. Nevertheless, the significant mistakes and omissions in dealing with the pandemic, which has serious consequences not only for children and young people, need to be dealt with, especially in our society, which is undergoing a dramatic upheaval. It makes sense to use IMA 2023 for such a critical examination from a vaccination medicine and infectious disease point of view and to use this opportunity to discuss decision-making processes for and against vaccination.

In connection with a high population immunity, infections with SARS-CoV2 are no longer in the foreground but are part of a complex epidemiological process with a large number of pathogens. Also due to faulty non-pharmacological containment measures, we are concerned with a significant, sometimes extra-seasonal accumulation of infections, for example by RS viruses, group A ?-hemolytic streptococci, and influenza viruses, which triggered an unusual second flu wave in spring 2023.

The corona pandemic is associated with a global push for innovation, among other things in the field of vaccine research and development and epidemiology, which is of importance far beyond SARS-CoV2. Not only rebound phenomena such as the RSV-related dramatic increase in the hospitalization rate of infants and small children with simultaneously decreasing hospital capacities in the 2022/23 season have led to intensive research activities for the prevention of RSV infections. We will discuss various preventive approaches to avoiding this disease, which can also have serious consequences in the elderly.

To a certain extent, as a by-product of the pandemic, modern laboratory diagnostic methods for detecting pathogens are now much less complicated and can also be used in outpatient medicine without fear of recourse. In this context, we will show the possibilities of rational infectious disease diagnostics with a focus on multiplex PCR in practice.

Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
