Overview course in lung diseases 2023 is organized by Uppsala University, Physicians' Institute for Professional Development in Healthcare / Lakarnas institut for professionell utveckling i sjukvarden (LIPUS) and will be held from Nov 13 - 17, 2023 at Uppsala, Uppland, Sweden.
Description:
Internal medicine practitioners often see patients with symptoms from the respiratory tract and thorax, and it is not always easy to make the correct diagnosis. Since patients with both common and uncommon pulmonary medical conditions are treated at each hospital, doctors are required to have good knowledge in the field. You must be able to handle acute and not infrequently life-threatening diseases such as acute respiratory failure, pneumothorax and exacerbations of asthma or COPD. The diagnosis is not always obvious and a broad differential diagnostic approach is required.
Internal medicine also needs knowledge of other common conditions such as pleural fluid, unclear lung changes, lung cancer and suspected sleep apnea syndrome. Also unusual pulmonary diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, allergic alveolitis and cystic fibrosis appear in receptions and departments, and in order to be able to detect them and know when to refer further, knowledge of these is also required.
