Providing oncological patients with qualified care, competently relieving the burden on the doctor treating them, having communicative strategies ready for dealing with seriously ill patients – for nursing staff, the 120-hour part-time, interdisciplinary curriculum oncology is a valuable alternative to the two-year full-time specialist training in oncology. In addition to an extensive training program for communicative and psycho-oncological skills, the oncology curriculum includes a large complex of lessons on various oncological clinical pictures as well as focal points on symptom control, side effect management, nutritional medicine and the required nursing techniques. The oncology curriculum is offered by the Professional Association of Resident Gynecological Oncologists in Germany (BNGO).
