OVERVIEW

Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) of Philadelphia 15th Annual Echocardiography Update 2023 is organized by Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) of Philadelphia and will be held on Jan 15, 2023 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America.

Why you should attend:
CVI’s 15th Annual Echocardiography Update is the longest-running program of its kind in the Greater Philadelphia Region. CVI Echo is a comprehensive continuing medical education program for physicians, cardiac sonographers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the performance and interpretation of cardiac echocardiographic diagnostic evaluation.

Focus topics for this interactive program include: Use of Strain Beyond LV, Echo for Management and Follow Up of Amyloid Disease, AI in Echo in 2023 and Beyond, Advances in Imaging in Pericardial Diseases and Constrictive Pericarditis, Practical 3D TEE, Echo Evaluation of Cardiac Masses, Echo Imaging of HCM Patients, Echo in Mechanical Circulatory Support. We are featuring an interactive case-based panel presentation featuring senior cardiac sonographers on The Many Faces of Echo Contrast: Ischemic Disease, Thrombus Detection, and Evaluation of RV Function.

As well, several of our featured lectures are introduced by clinical case presentations delivered by a diverse group of seasoned Cardiology Fellows from throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region.

The goal of our program is to provide attendees with better recognition of these important topics, which are critical in the effective utilization of this powerful diagnostic tool so that they are better able to improve safety and outcomes for their patients.

Description:
The 15th Annual CVI Echocardiography Update program features focused didactic presentations delivered by an impressive, diverse faculty of national thought leaders and regional experts.  As well, some focus topics will be introduced with a clinical case presentation delivered by a cardiology fellow.

Learning Objectives:
After attending CVI’s 15th Annual Echocardiography Update, attendees will be better able to:
• Review the basic concepts of speckle track echocardiography and define the strengths and weaknesses of this technique
• Evaluate and appreciate clinical applications of strain echocardiography
• Critically assess future directions of strain echocardiography
• Describe the challenges of identifying patients with cardiac amyloidosis, especially those with atypical findings
• Summarize the role of echocardiography in non-invasive diagnosis and prognostication of amyloid disease
• Recognize the role of echocardiography in the treatment and management of patients with cardiac amyloidosis
• Distinguish between good and poor performance AI models
• Identify types of data and datasets most amenable to the use of artificial intelligence
• Recognize which AI technologies have prospective clinical trials
• Identify the new advances in imaging of pericardial diseases
• Demonstrate the role of inflammation and IL-1 blockers in pericarditis
• Illustrate the new paradigm shift in the management of pericarditis
• Explain the incorporation of three-dimensional (3D) techniques into routine transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography workflows
• Demonstrate enhancement of the assessment of valvular and structural heart disease using 3D echocardiography
• Recognize the ability of 3D echocardiography to guide interventional cardiac procedures
• Develop a classification system for cardiac masses
• Identify key cardiac masses by transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography
• Review distinguishing features of common intracardiac masses
• Recognize the role of echo contrast for endocardial border enhancement in appropriate cases
• Enumerate scenarios of patients with ischemic heart disease where contrast use is indicated, including regular TTE and Stress Echocardiography
• Analyze the role of ultrasound-enhancing agents on echo in the assessment of thrombus on Echocardiography
• Explain how to optimize image quality with the use of ultrasound-enhancing agents in Echocardiography
• Define the appropriate indications for use of ultrasound-enhancing agents on Echocardiography
• Describe new therapies available for patients with HCM
• Discuss the role of imaging, particularly echo, in managing patients with HCM
• Recognize the limitations of echocardiographic imaging in HCM and strategize appropriate next steps in patient evaluation
• Assess ventricular and valvular function using Doppler hemodynamics
• Explain new advances in the echocardiographic assessment of right ventricular function
• Describe the role of echocardiograms in mechanical circulatory support management
• Define the use of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) in cardiogenic shock
• Define the use of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) in high-risk PCI
