OVERVIEW

A Clinical Update on Dental Ceramics and Posterior Composites is organized by Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (LLUSD) and will be held on Apr 02, 2023 at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Loma Linda, California, United States of America.

An Update to Dental Ceramics
Synopsis
90% of bridges and crowns are made from ceramic material, according to an analysis from one of the biggest US dental labs. Ceramic materials don't work the same way as metal-based crowns and bridges, and the wrong selection or handling may result in premature failure. This course will help you understand how to choose and work with various types of ceramics currently being used in dentistry. It will be less confusing than standard marketing jargon. This ability to bond dental ceramics allows dentists to carry out more conservative dental preparations. There are various dental ceramics to choose from (zirconia lithium disilicate, zirconia, processing composite, porcelain etc.). Choosing the appropriate procedure for each ceramic may be difficult. This presentation aims at simplifying the procedure of bonding ceramics. We will give the dentist an approach that can be used to bond any dental material. In this class, we will discuss the most effective practices for clinical use in light of research studies conducted by the UAB School of Dentistry. UAB School of Dentistry offer pearls to bring back to the dental office.

Objectives
• Examine the different kinds of dental ceramic materials.
• Selecting a ceramic material for anterior restorations
• Design and preparation aspects for posterior crowns and bridges
• Strategies for adjusting, polishing and removing ceramic crowns
• Check out the guidelines for bonding dental ceramics.
• The protocol will be used to prepare surfaces for ceramic crowns (i.e. sandblasting, etching, cleaning, priming)
• Classify the different types of cement that are used for adhesive bonding

Materials and Techniques to Improve Posterior Composites
Synopsis
Posterior composite restorations are the primary procedure for many general dentists. While the procedure may appear simple, numerous clinical factors can lead to a durable restoration, including diagnosis, isolation, removal of caries, preparation of cavities and use of liner wedge and matrix placement, bonding technique composite placement, as well as polishing and finishing. This course will review the procedures for each step in light of the latest research.

Objectives
• Discuss treatment guidelines caries removal and interproximal caries final points.
• Learn about materials and techniques to ensure a lasting adhesive bond, and to create an appropriately-designed restoration.
• Analyze the matrix usage and contouring tools to get a well-contoured and tight contact.
