Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) Leadership Development Conference 2022 is organized by Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) and will be held from May 20 - 21, 2022 at Campbell's Resort on Lake Chelan, Chelan, Washington, United States of America.

Every year, the Leadership Development Conference features a truly outstanding lineup of speakers, all experts in their respective fields, and interactive sessions designed to enhance your leadership skills. You'll leave Chelan with concrete ideas and skills that you can immediately put to use in your professional life.

Objectives:
• Outline how to accelerate the transition from Well-being 1.0 to Well-being 2.0 thinking. Describe how to transition from awareness and insight to authentic action with a focus on physicians as humans.
• Recognize and articulate the role health care leaders play in the well-being of individuals, teams, and organizations. Recognize and articulate the roles culture and leadership play in patient care quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
• Examine the connections between diversity, inclusion, and health equity. Explore the role physician leaders play in fostering (or limiting) diversity and inclusion and the impact that has on health care teams. Outline strategies to ensure people from marginalized communities are meaningfully included in leadership roles and on health care teams.
• Describe the core existential concerns and how they pertain to today’s leadership challenges. Discuss practical applications/tools rooted in an existential framework that can improve the potential of self and teams. State how principles of existential leadership can promote diversity, equity, and inclusion among teams and within organizations.
• Identify leadership behaviors that will foster a culture of wellness. Recognize and assess strategies to build and lead culturally competent relationships and teams valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Outline how female doctors can best care for themselves and others.
• Review the AMA Joy in Medicine program and roadmap. Describe Confluence Health’s work on physician wellness and how the AMA Joy in Medicine program has guided efforts.
• Recognize and encourage leadership skills to promote greater wellness with individuals, teams, and organizations. Describe the approaches to leadership that have the most utility for common situations.
• Outline strategies to ensure people from marginalized communities are meaningfully included in improving equity and the quality of care patients receive.
• Describe the elements of emotional intelligence and how they contribute to leadership. Discuss a method to develop the emotional intelligence of leaders within an organization in real-time.
• Discuss how medical schools are modifying curriculum and experiences to teach new physicians strategies to advance health equity, as well as ensure the physician population reflects the populations they serve. Describe the medical schools' plans to meet the expectations set in Senate Bill 5228 to increase diversity.
• Outline the provider wellness and leadership and organizational development program at a major health system that uses innovative approaches such as a peer responder program, Echoes storytelling sessions, provider counseling, wellness coaching, and social support programs.
• Describe the intangibles that separate extraordinary teams from ordinary teams. Promote creating team cultures that foster open and honest communication as the foundation for trust.
