OVERVIEW

Overview course in rheumatology is organized by Uppsala University and will be held from Sep 27 - 30, 2022 at Uppsala university, Uppsala, Uppsala Lan, Sweden.

Introduction:
Symptoms from joints and muscles are very common. Being able to diagnose the inflammatory rheumatic joint and systemic diseases and catch these patients among all those who apply for joint pain is a challenge, and very important in order to be able to prevent permanent disabilities and organ damage in the rheumatically ill patient.

Inflammatory system diseases are included in the differential diagnostic considerations when investigating high SR and general symptoms. Malignancy, infection and inflammatory system disease can often present in a similar way. Several of the rheumatic system diseases and vasculitis can have an acute illness and a fulminant course where early attention, diagnosis and treatment can be crucial for reduced morbidity and improved survival.

For rheumatic diseases, there are new treatment options available, drugs that are based on new advances in immunology, with different approaches, effects and side effects. Knowledge of these increasingly used drugs also needs to be available outside of rheumatology.

Course Objectives:
After the course, the participant is expected to:
• take an adequate rheumatological history and perform joint status

• have knowledge of diagnostics and initial treatment of vasculitis and systemic diseases, eg SLE
