Cell Symposia: Metabolites in Signaling and Disease is organized by Cell Press - Cell Symposia, Elsevier and will be held from Apr 03 - 05, 2022 at Altis Grand Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal.
Target Audience:
This didactic conference will bring together scientists who are interested in metabolites, their signalling properties, and how they affect a variety of health and disease outcomes.
Overview:
It is vital to have proper cellular communication in multicellular organisms for balance and disease protection. Mediated communication is a fundamental technique for such communication by tiny metabolites that can operate across tissues as well as between cells. Previously dismissed as just byproducts of biological metabolism, metabolites are now known to influence cell function and tissue health as cellular effectors. Cancer progression, organismal physiology and ageing, and general signalling can all be affected by cellular metabolites. However, they also alter normo- and pathophysiology via influencing the immune system and microbiota. Modern technologies to investigate and use these metabolites for therapy have emerged as the identity and function of these metabolites has been better understood.
Topics:
• Metabolites in Signaling
• Metabolites in Cancer
• Metabolites in Organismal Physiology and Aging
• Biological Metabolites of the Nervous and Immune Systems
• Technologies and ‘omics
