Acute neurological symptoms and diseases. Diagnostics - Investigation - Handling is organized by Uppsala University and will be held from Nov 21 - 24, 2022 at Viktoria Hotel & Conference, Uppsala, Uppsala Lan, Sweden.
Description
It is estimated that approximately one-third of the patients a doctor sees in the emergency section of a medical clinic search for neurological symptoms. This course is designed to serve as training for medical professionals currently responsible for treating patients in emergency departments who exhibit neurological symptoms. A significant portion of the work entails maintaining communication with the neurologists who work at the regional clinic.
Several acute neurological illnesses can lead to permanent disability, including impairments in cognitive functions, eyesight, and movement. Therefore, the ability to correctly evaluate neurological symptoms, conduct an appropriate examination, and provide therapy as soon as possible is essential. It can be challenging to differentiate between people with severe illnesses and those with common neurological symptoms like headaches and dizziness. For example, headaches and dizziness are examples of common neurological symptoms. Numerous medical professionals agree that neurology belongs in the "difficult" diagnostic field category.
The fundamental investigations emphasized throughout this course are the clinical neurological examination based on neuroanatomical thinking, neuroradiology, lumbar puncture, and blood sampling. This demonstrates how an emergency physician arrives at a diagnosis with the support of fundamental investigations. The most effective therapies that are provided at the county and central hospitals are brought up for discussion. An overview of the neurological and neurosurgical resources available at the regional clinic is provided, and several types of collaboration are talked about.
